What is the mission of the Adopt-A-School program?
The Adopt-A-School Program seeks to create, promote and support partnerships between businesses and organizations and the Peoria Public Schools that enrich the educational experiences of students; better prepares students for future employment in local companies; provides positive community relations and involvement for businesses and organizations; and offers a structured vehicle for community interaction with the schools.
 

Possible Partnership Activities
Monetary Assistance

Community Outreach - Encourage other businesses and organizations to get involved.
 
Volunteering - Tutoring/mentoring.

Student Achievement - Recognition of academic improvement, improved attendance, improved behavior.

Career Development - Guest speakers, career workshops, work site placement, job shadowing.

College Preparation - SAT/ACT tutoring, application process assistance, communication/interview skills.

Skills Training - Computer training on Word, Excel, Power Point, Web design.  Financial literacy class; savings, budgeting, balancing a checkbook.

Event Planning and Assistance - Plan fundraising events in coordination with school leaders, institute an employee giving program, serve as a judge for a science fair.

Professional Development Activities - Provide professional development sessions for teachers/PTO's; time management, stress management, organizational management, health related topics.
To become an adopter is there a financial commitment?
While your monetary assistance would certainly be appreciated, it is not a necessity to become a partner.  Your time and efforts are appreciated just as much to the schools and students we serve.
